From the director...

Thank you for attending our film festival tonight! While Knight Hall is not at full capacity and we are scattered across campus or gathered in the comfort of homes, it is a pleasure to have you in our audience!

Last April we had to postpone our festival until September due to COVID-19. When September arrived, we still could not hold an in-person event, so moved the festival online. This year, April 12th, we postponed the festival due to the tragic death of Mr. Daunte Wright, community response, and the curfew that followed.

Tonight, you will hear that Northwestern Production’s theme for the year was unity. When we began the year together, we didn’t know what lay ahead. Would we be able to produce films during this global pandemic? If so, would we be able to create enough films for a festival? How would the social unrest in our communities affect life on campus? How should it?

We did not know how life would unfold for our community. What we did know was that Christ reigns and will continue to do so. We were, and continue to be, united by our common purpose in Matthew 5:16.  We are united by our love of film production and storytelling. We continue to be united in our mission to pursue Christ and pursue our craft.

Ann Sorenson
Festival Director & Professor of Film
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
